Summary of the chapter:-

The chapter starts when Lencho, a  poor farmer was waiting for some rain for his crops to grow it properly. His wife, at home prepares food and calls all the children and her husband for the food. Lencho tells her that it is about to rain soon.

The rain starts. He becomes happy at first every drop of the rain pleases him to the bottom of his heart. His children start enjoying the drops of water. All of sudden small drops of the rain change into large drops. Large hailstones start falling and change into hailstorm. That heavy rain and hailstorm destroy all the crops of Lencho.

Now Lencho has nothing to servive his family whole year. That night makes him upset. Now he is not understanding what to do? Then he decides to write a letter to god to demand him help for him and his family. He sends the letter, having written "TO GOD" as address.

The letter is recieved by a postman ,he takes it to the postmaster. The Postmaster laughs out loudly to see the letter but soon becomes serious and wants to help Lencho because he doesn't want to shake Lencho's faith in god. He and his collegues collect 70 pesos in all and send them to Lencho a letter, signed as God.

Lencho gets the letter and opens it. When he counts the money he becomes angry because he gets only 70 pesos in it but he has demanded for 100 pesos. He is sure god cannot commit such mistake. He doubts on the postmaster and his collegues for stealing his money.

He writes one more letter to god and requests god to send him help directly in future. He calls, the postmaster and his collegues, "bunch of crooks". The postmaster doesn't feel happy to read it.
