Rabindranath Tagore is a Bengali poet, who is a Nobel Laureate (1861 – 1941).

In his poem the ‘Clouds and Waves’, a little child watches in awe as the clouds in the sky above him roll on and on. He wants to join the clouds in their games, but then he knows his mother is waiting for him at home.

Next, he is over-awed at the sea waves that roll on to the shore endlessly. He would like to join them too, but is once gain reminded that his mother waits for him at home.

So finally, he decides that roles will be changed and he will be the wave and roll on and on in mirthful laughter upon the lap of his mother, the shore.

The clouds and the waves is a beautiful poem which brings out the imagination of a young child’s mind.

The child tells to her mother that the life in the clouds is very beautiful.

The folks that live up there call her and to come up there and experience the beauty of the moon.

They will lift her up when she comes on the edge but she refused to do so because she cared about her mother.
