'Crabbed Age and The Youth' by Shakespeare, as the name suggests that both of them, i.e. the aged and the youth are opposite to each other and hence can never get along together. The poet presents various contrasts between them, such as 'Youth is wild; Age is tamed.' and 'the seasons become a metaphor to characterize the different aspects of age and youth. Youth is like "summer morn" while age is "winter weather", and like winter "bare". however, it is believed that the poem is not only a theoretical argument.

Shakespeare personifies both youth and age and the seasons become a metaphor to characterise the different aspects of age and youth. Youth is like "summer morn" while age is "winter weather", and like winter "bare"

Crabbed Age and Youth features two kinds of people – the old and the youth. An analysis made on both of them based on a number of features indicates that they are both incompatible and cannot live together. Both of them have completely opposite characteristics. While youth is like the summer morning, old age is similar to the bare winter. Likewise, young people are wild with a zest for adventure. On the other hand, the elderly group is portrayed as tame with a preference to rest in one place.

There is also a hint that a young person and an old person cannot be lovers. This is seen by the way it is indicated that while the girl is destined to marry an old man, her mind is full of thoughts about the sweet shepherd. She is also worried about his safety because he has stayed out very long.
