Anne Frank's The Diary of a Young Girl is mainly an account of the young girl's life during the holocaust. Her family migrated to Netherlands to escape the Nazis. However, when Germany invaded the country, Anne and her relatives were forced to hide, living in the attic of the house where the Van Daan's live. She developed a crush with the teenage Van Daan, but soon the affection lessened. The diary contained the girl's thoughts about her family, the people around her, her identity, and the events of the time. The diary ended abruptly though as her family was betrayed and surrendered to the Nazis.
