The authors of the chapter 'Guilty' Horace J. Gardner and Bonneviere Arnaud.

The narrative of the chapter depicts that a character Callum Crane after becoming drunk forces himself on his lady secretary at his office. The secretary firmly denied him. Then, Nathan Corrigan who is an ex-con comes along with Crane's son to meet Callum Crane.

Crane offered Nathan Corrigan an envelope containing money along with a photograph of his secretary and asked him to kill her.

All happened prior that Nathan could reveal his identity.  In agony and disappointment, Nathan throws away the envelope which was picked up by a person who needed the money. The story depicted that in the final stage a juvenile, which  was entirely anonymous to Crane was appointed to kill the secretary,
