Vikramaditya was the king of ujjain. He was famous for his justice. After his death, his palace and his fort slowly and slowly changed into ruins. The place where his palace stood turned into grassland where shepherds gazed heir cattle.

One day the shepherd boys were grazing their cattle. One of the boys sat on a mound and said, "I am the judge and I will settle your disputes."

It was a fun for them. They brought some tiny disputes before him. He settled their disputes so wisely, that everyone wondered how could the boy find out the truth. As soon as the boy sat on the mound, he looked different from other boys, but when he came down from the mound, he became an ordinary boy like other boys. This news spread to the nearby villages. The villagers brought different type of cases before him and he settled them immediately by telling both the parties the facts of each case. People were surprised to see his wisdom. They thought that the boy had some magic power. But when the boy came down from the mound, he forgot everything about the case

. This news reached the king of Ujjain. He asked his ministers to find out the truth. One of the ministers came and found out that the news was true and the boy was giving right judgment in each case. He told the king that the boy must have definitely sat on the judgment seat of vikramaditya.

The king ordered his men to dig the place where that mound was lying. They dug the place deep below the ground and found out that there was a grand black marble throne supported by thirty two stone angels. They said,"Surely it is the judgment seat of Vikramaditya." The throne was taken to the palace. The king was very happy to see the throne. He thought that he would sit on this throne and give right judgments. When the king was about to sit on the throne, a marble Angel changed into a real Angel and said, " Stop, do you think that you are worthy to sit on the judgment seat of Vikramaditya? Is your heart as innocent as that of a shepherd boy?"

The king admitted that his heart was not as pure as that of a shepherd boy and he was not as innocent as that shepherd boy. So the angels flew away carrying the marble slab into the sky.

This was how the judgment seat of Vikramaditya disappeared from the earth for forever.
