in this poem the writer describes the scene after an incident that the police arrives later when the harm is already done,to question the witnesses ,but their are no witnesses,their are only ashes and charred bodies.The old and young people who had built the pyre with wild excitement and the killers who had alighted it,and the innocent victims all were gone.
