The poem "The brook" is an autobiography of a small stream. The brook;personified as a human being, tells its own story which strikes a parallel with the life of everyman. It originates from wild places and merges wit ha brimming river. It conveys a universal message in the following lines:
'For a men may come and men may go,
But I go on forever'

it means that man is mortal but objects of nature are immrotal .

The Brook passes through many ups and downs before it joins the brimming river.

The poet wants to suggest that ,like the brook ,man's journey is also filled with hurdles.
