“Growing up” is a poem written by Harry Behn.

The poem consists of only two stanzas. In the first stanza, the poet describes the place he has been to when he was seven years old. When he went for a picnic to that foresty place, he found long trees and huge boulders behind which hid the tigers.

In the second stanza, the poet describes the same place when he went for a picnic again when he was older. He found no huge trees and boulders. He could not even find the tigers which were supposed to hide behind the boulders.

Answer:

'Growing up' is a short poem written by Harry Behn where he shows his concern about the wildlife and deteriorating nature.

Explanation:

When the poet was young, he once went to a picnic and at that time, the place was full of greenery and tigers. As he grew old and he went to the same 'magic forestry' again, he found that the forest life has deteriorated drastically and the Tigers too were ‘missing’.

The ‘magic’ was missing from the ‘Magic Forestry’. The message in the poem is that we should try our best to protect wildlife and forests and ensure that our beautiful mother earth remains blissful and magical…!
