Meena Alexandra was born in Allahabad later raised in Kerala she was sent to England at the age of 18 to complete the studies she referred to herself as a woman affected by multiple migrations.

  • The poem deals with the theme of migration and memory the poem metaphorically compares the mother-daughter relationship to a relationship of root and its branches. The poem addresses the need for women to voice out their thoughts to empower themselves and follow their dreams regardless of what society wants or orders them to do.
