summary of sherlock homes his last bow

This final story of Sherlock Holmes begins in a manner atypical to the nature of other Sherlock Holmes tales. The story is offered with an omniscience, or the ability to know and see all that is sometimes used in third-person narration, and begins with an interaction between the two villains in the story. This style of narration isn't present when Watson serves as the narrator since that's a closer, more subjective and intimate perspective. This allows the Holmes reveal later in the story to be surprising to the reader.
In addition to this, Holmes and Watson don't serve in their typical roles. More specifically, Holmes acts more as an undercover agent than the detective the reader expects. Despite that, Holmes and Watson serve England by preventing an international incident with some rather deplorable Germans. Holmes has come out of retirement and spent the past two years preparing for his undercover role to stop a sinister German plot against England at the threshold of World War I.
