Sordello is the poem written by Robert Browning. It was a long project which was on working for 7 years. It's a fictional poem which describes a small part of life of Sordello da Goito who would entertained the public by singing a poem in the medeival Italy in 1220s.

The poem describes the struggle between two partisans: Guelps and Ghibellines. Sordello was Ghibellians. The poem starts with the sad tone stating the poems to tell by the dead poet.

The poem describes the Sordello's childhood and youth as an orphan spending all his time in the castle of Goito near Mantua. Whatever he knew about the world was from the elder servant group he was in a company with.

The poem explains that a person who doesn't believes in any deities can fail in life by doing nothing or by doing everything.
