One particular patch resembled a human face. One day the narrator fell ill with influenza and had nothing much to do but stare at the wall, this is when the face got a firmer hold of him it was almost like he had a roommate , The narrator becomes obsessed with the face that he frequented public gatherings and crowded places in a hope to find him. One day he finally spotted the man when he was riding in a taxi, the narrator quickly climbed into a taxi and said the driver to follow him and he reached charring cross where he found out that he was heading to France, the narrator stayed there so he can meet him but in vain they had boarded a ship from Folkstone. Finally the narrator reached the mans private cabin and asked him his card which held the mans contact information but surprisingly the man gave his card. The narrator found out that the man's name was "Ormond Wall" a millionaire from Pittsburg, USA. Suddenly the narrator fainted and was taken to a hospital. After a month the narrator returned to his house back in great Ormond's street and found out that Mr. Ormond Wall had died in an accident, he suddenly rushed to his room and was completely shocked when the patch disappeared. The plot twist is that this entire story was made up by the little man.
