Teacher’s Pest is the central character of the Lovecraft Middle School series of books written by Charles Gilman. The pest is none other than Howard Mergler who is also the student council president. He is really a bug-monster who fools people with his friendly smile, shiny red apple and perfect manners. He is the reason behind the school being flooded with head lice, fleas, wasps and roaches.

There is only one person who can stop the pest, and that is a twelve-year old boy named Robert Arthur. However, he needs assistance from his best buddies who are the school ghost, the school bully and the very brave two-headed rat.
