The Comic Pastoral is actually a French play Pastorale Comique written by Molierie. The play made its maiden release in January 1667 and is based in Thessaly, Greece.

The play describes the dejection of two wealthy pastors Lycas and Philene. Both of them are in love with a shepherdess Iris and want to marry her. But, Iris is not in love either of them. She prefers a Corydon, a fellow shepherd.
