- The poet familiarizes us with the names of the cities, through which these tradesmen travel. They are Khotan, Turfan, Samarkand, and Kashgar. She says that the traders sold/exchanged their goods or bought the goods which they wanted to sell in China. They go back passing towns and cities over mountains and across deserts on the same fabulous, fabled Silk Road.
