Sjata Bhatt, in the first stanza of her poem 'The Peacock' paints the magnificent bird in Indian setting i.e. 'in the pipal tree'. His loud sharp call is indicative of his arrival, but all you can see while he sits in the pipal tree is 'a flash of turquoise', his slender neck turned away from you and then he descends .
As he departs, you can only see a glimpse of the end of his tail moving away.
