In the poem, "The Peacock" written by Sujata Bhatt, the poet brings out how magnificent the bird is. By describing the magnificence of the bird, the poet brings out the connection of how the bird is so important, and is even considered as the national bird of India, because of its involvement in the rich culture, religious beliefs and traditions of our country. The poet compares this to our country (INDIA) itself, in reference to our different cultures, traditions, etc.

Sjata Bhatt, in the first stanza of her poem 'The Peacock' paints the magnificent bird in Indian setting i.e. 'in the pipal tree'. His loud sharp call is indicative of his arrival, but all you can see while he sits in the pipal tree is  'a flash of turquoise', his slender neck turned away from you and then he  descends .
As he departs, you can only see a glimpse of the end of his tail moving away.
