This a story of a girl named Della and a boy named James .They loved each other very much and on a Christmas Eve both Della and James didn't have much money to buy a gift for each other. Della had one of her precious thing with which she could bring a present for James and that was her beautiful,shiny hair whereas James had a golden watch that had been belonging to his father's and grandfather's.Then Della wore her old brown jacket and old brown hat and ran down the stairs to the street where she stopped in front of the shop named"Mme Sofronie Goods of all Kinds" . She went to the shopkeeper and questioned the owner to buy her hair.After weighing Della's hair the owner told that it would price twenty dollars. After taking those 20 dollars she went to a shop and brought a simple and pure designed plantium fob chain. Then the story turns towards James who sold his golden watch and brought a set of combs for Della ,which she had worshipped for long in a Broadway window. The combs were beautiful made of pure tortoise shell with jewelled rims for Della's hair . As James knew that Della sold her hair for a present for him but Della didn't knew what James had sold for the combs . James ran and said Della that he had sold his watch for Della's present .At last they two foolishly and unwisely sacrificed for each other the greatest treasure of their house . They are magi........
