After his proccess of deduction, Feluda manages to confirm that the croaker ,Mr .Majumdar and Mr. Ghoshal can be ruled out from being the meddler. As, he checks the masks he discovers a faint smell of cheroot and the only person who smoked cheroot was Tinkori Babu, who was the paying guest of Rajen Babu. Finally, Feluda verified that it was Tinkori Babu who was the real malefactor.
Latterly, Feluda came to know about Rajen Babu's son, Prabeer Majumdar, who was caught stealing plutocrat from his father's cupboard. As he was now back in Darjeeling, he'd a strong reason to hang his father.
So, Feluda now had three suspects but no malefactor yet. Meanwhile, a strange thing happened. A man wearing a ghostly mask had broke into Rajen Babu's room at night. Rajen Babu was exremely affraid.
This was each done to scarify Rajen Babu who had tripped one of his classmate in the hundred yard race on the Sports Day, fifty times a gone. The boy was seriously injured and also had missed the order. The boy was deeply hurt. Tinkori Babu was that same boy. When, he stayed as a paying guest, he realized that Rajen Babu was the boy who had hurt him. So to discipline him, Tinkori Babu caused a great deal of anxiety and trouble to Rajen Babu. Hence, the riddle was revealed.
Rajen Babu has been hovered by a letter posted to him which mentions that he'll be penalized soon for errors of his past. He panics and agrees to have Feluda probe the matter. The letter was created out of words cut out from a review named" Ananda Bazaar Patrika."
Feluda suspects Dr. Phoni Mitra, Rajen Babu's croaker thinking he'd have done it in order to get some business. He also suspects Mr. Ghoshal as Feluda allowed he was a crook, as he was trying to make plutocrat by buying the relics cheap and also dealing with them at a advanced rate.
