A Phenomenon solved by modern Philosophy and Astronomy. The Laputians' great Improvements in the latter. The King's method of suppressing Insurrections."
Gulliver learns that Laputa is floating above Balnibarbi, the island on which he landed his canoe. Laputa contains 10,000 acres and is perfectly circular. It is able to move about the surface of Balnibarbi but not beyond its borders, and it can move up and down because of its magnetic forces. When a town from Balnibarbi acts up, the King has Laputa moved directly above it so that it can receive no sun or rain. No one from the Royal family is allowed to leave Laputa

ten days since gulliver's return to england, a stranger pays the adventure seeker a visit and asks him to be his guest on his ship sailing for the east indies in two months tome. gulliver agrees at once. only that the ship falls into the hand of pirates. since gulliver hears one of the pirate talk in dutch he tries to negotiate with the pirate in the language claiming freedom since both the crew of the ship and the pirate were after all christians. but while the dutch pirate remains adamant a japanese pirate declares that their lives will be spared. unable to resist himself gulliver tells the dutch pirate that the heathen japanese had more heart than the christian dutch. this enrages the dutch pirate and he sends gulliver off in a small boat with enough food provisions for only four days. gulliver takes refuge in a cluster of islands nearby. he sets up a camp there and is about to settle down when he suddenly sees a little bit of land suspended in the air with numerous people walking on it. though he can't believe what he is seeing, gulliver catches the attention of the people walking on that landmass and they immediately lower the altitude of their land and pull up gulliver with the help of a chain.
