The poet has a cold and in his misery believes it is the worstcold any man has ever experienced, yet his doctor has dismissed it as a mere cold. In humorous hyperbole Nash gives vent to describing what this coldis actually like. He overstates its power and effect thus mocking the cold and the doctor's prognosis.
