The poem ‘I am
Special, and so are You’ celebrates the uniqueness of each human being. The
poet says the world would be so boring if Mother Nature had made all living
creatures of same colour, and shape! She shudders to imagine the possibility of
the sameness of all creatures! She expresses her thankfulness to God for making
all the creatures differently with different unique looks, talents, strengths,
weaknesses. She is proud of the fact that some of her friends are fat; others
are tall; some are skinny; and some are small. Each is different from the
other. Each is unique. She loves them all. Some of them are brainy; some are
good at sports; some are good at arts. But all of them are specially designed.
One cannot take the place of any other! At the end she says each one of is
invaluable and the answer of our parents’ prayer. The most important message of
the poem is that each one of us must love the way we are, and must not change
our God-gifted uniqueness under any pressure or circumstance.
