The poem Little Sarah is by Anna Maria Wells.

In this poem, the poet tells the story of a girl who is struggling to make a cake, for her grandmother, for breakfast.

The story begins with little Sarah standing beside her grandmother, questioning her about what would she like for breakfast, to which her grandmother responds, that she would like a Johnny cake which little Sarah must mix it for a minute and bake it for two minutes. Little Sarah goes to the cellar, finds the barrel empty, so she decides to go to the supermarket for some grounded corn, but the shopkeeper informs her that no meal had been delivered today so she should go to the miller, the miller tells her that he too didnt have any grounded corn, so she requests the sun to grow the corn, to which the sun responded that he couldn't as corn had not been sown. She next approached a farmer so that he would sow the corn, who then excused for the ground had not been ploughed. Ultimately the ground got ploughed initiating all tasks.

She brought the cake to he grandmother, who again requested for Sarah to make yet another Johnny cake.

Explanation:

Anna Maria Wells in his poem “Little Sarah” describes the story of a little girl who strives hard to bake a cake for her grandmother for her breakfast. As the grandmother asked for a Johnny cake, Sarah goes the cellar to make the ingredients ready. As she found the barrel empty, she went to the supermarket to buy grounded corn.

As she couldn’t get it from the supermarket as the goods are not delivered on that day, she walks further to the miller. Even the miller said he did not have any grounded corn, she requested the sun to grow the corn. The sun replied that the corn had not been sown. Later, Sarah approached a Farmer so that the he would sow the corn, who denied saying the ground had not been ploughed. Finally, the cake was made by initiating all the above tasks. Finally, she brought the cake to the grandmother, but she asked for another Johnny cake.
