Summary of the poem (No men are Foreign)
Answers
No country is an alien land
The poet reminds us that under all different dresses people belonging to different countries are physically the same. The land on which they live and in which they are buried is the same everywhere. They enjoy the same sunshine. They breathe the same air and drink the same water. They enjoy prosperity in peace and suffer in times of disturbances and war.
People share the same fate everywhere
Men belonging to other countries share the same fate as we do. Like us, they have to work hard to earn their livelihood. Their fate is like ours. Similarly, they wake and sleep like us. They are also won over by love as we all are in similar circumstances. In fact, we can easily recognise the bonds that unite all human beings on earth. In spite of obvious differences, people of all countries are essentially the same.
No hatred for others
We should not, therefore, hate people belonging to any other country. To hate others is to hate ourselves. When we wage wars against others, we harm ourselves equally. We pollute our own earth. The smoke and dust caused by the weapons of war pollute the air which we all breathe. Therefore, we should refrain from treating others alien. We are all bound in the spirit of universal brotherhood.
