The Elephant and the Tragopan is a discussion by the animals of the forest in a poetic style. Headed by an elephant, the discussion is about the human venture to convert the animals’ home in the woodlands into a reservoir for the benefit of the nearby city. The elephant requests all the animals in the forest to come together and stand united in their fight against the human race. It adds that human beings kill animals for various reasons and hardly show gratitude towards the four-legged animals.
