Emigrant by Edward Kamau portrays the voice of an person who was forced to migrate after the Holocaust.

The whole poem revolves around how the perception of the person change after he has badly affected. His opinions about worldly matters and its people changes a lot so doe his perception about power and war change as the reality hits him.

Further in the poem, he mentions how Colombus invaded a new land and came across a new race of people. And how his invasion brought death and suffering to people who were trying to protect themselves. Not only humans, his invasion severely affected birds and all other living species on the planet.
