“The Yarn of the Nancy Bell” came about twenty years after a famous failed voyage where Captain Sir John Franklin of England led two ships in an examination of the Northwest Passage; both ships were ice bound and shattered.

All men aboard were lost and some of their bodies were found years later.

The markings on the bones suggest grisly results of their desperate hunger.
