Summary of the story a house is not a home by zan gaudioso

The story, narrated by the author is about a fire that engulfs his house when he was a child. His mother tries to save some important documents unsuccessfully, and the author grieves for his cat which is presumed dead in the fire. The family has lost all their belongings and the author is ashamed to go to school in the same dress which he had worn the previous day with a borrowed shoe. He is depressed.

But gradually he realises that all his school mates are sympathetic towards the loss of his family and they get together to collect things to help the family. He realises the importance of coming out of his sorrow and look forward to living life.
