A SONG FROM HEAVEN
SUMMARY
In a small village in Austria, a priest was inspired to write a simple Christmas poem. The poem became a song and the song became a carol and spread all over the world. The story starts with father Mohr who was preparing for Christmas eve. Suddenly he heard a knock at his door. It was a peasant woman who wished to get the blessings for her newly born baby from father Mohr. Father Mohr reached the women`s hut he saw the mother cradling her infant lovingly. He blessed the baby and made his way back
home. On his way back home, his father mother kept replaying the events in his mind, he couldn`t forget the
scene of the infant lying in its mother`s arms. So he decided to write down what had happened in his diary.
As he started writing, the words seemed to have a will of their own. Quite naturally, his lines flowed into beautiful verses. when he finally stopped, father Mohr found that he had composed a poem. The next morning poem was played on guitar by Franz Gruber and it became a song. The song became famous in several neighboring villages as well. In times the song reached the lips of the most wonderful singers the stressor children of Zillertal valley.They were often called to sing at local events
.They used to travel to several cities and sang it angels that is how the song became the carol.
