Sujan Bhagat is good at farming and he keeps getting a better crop than anyone else. He was also a very religious man. Because of his religious status, he changes his name to Sujan Bhagat. His devotion towards god slowly began growing and his rights were slowly taken away by his family members. One day, a beggar comes at his doorstep, asking for alms, Sujan's wife Bulaki and his son, Bhola insult Sujan and Bulaki says that if she knew that Sujan would become so dependent she wouldn't have let him become this religious. Upon seeing that no one has given anything to the beggar, Sujan comes in and scolds them and says that he'll do it himself. When he takes the atta to give the beggar, Bhola grabs it from him saying that this is hard earned food that isn't for beggars or charity cases. Sujan tells the beggar to leave for the time being and meditates under a tree about the injustice done to him in his own house. He was the angriest at his wife as she did not protesther son's misbehaviour. He argues with her later blaming her that she would've enjoyed the scene even more if he had been hit too. He asks her not to starve and to eat her son's hard earned food. He decides to show his worth to his family, that he isn't just a home body but a very skilled farmer. The next day he wakes up early and cuts a huge heap of grass that the family is shocked to see. Sujan works hard the whole day only stopping for short breaks. Bhola gives up on trying to match Sujan's skills. After Sujan's comeback, the beggar from Amola comes begging for alms. Sujan tells him that he can takeas much as he can from the heap of grains. Whenthe beggar says that he can't carry a lot, Sujan tells him to lead the way and that he will carry the grains behind him. Bhola is put to shame for his misbehaviour and bad treatment of his father.
