The Coral Tree:
"The Coral Tree" is a famous short-story by Ruskin Bond. In this story, the narrator met a young girl who was about to pluck flowers from the coral tree. When he started conversing with her, he could observe the ambition and desires of the young girl who wanted to go round the world.
He was very much frustrated on his grandfather’s death and he wanted to sell his house in England. So he was about to set on a journey to England. The fall of the branch symbolises the death of his grandfather. The red ribbon that loosened symbolises that the girl is freed from the entanglements of the society around her.
On conversing with the girl, the narrator felt relaxed and he was indirectly helped by that young girl to overcome the sadness of his grandfather’s death and to accept the reality of life.
