White dolphin is a novel story written by Gill Lewis.
Kara the main protagonist is a young girl that loves nature and has dyslexia. She lives with her father Jim in her aunt's place. Due to the requirement of money, they decide to put their boat, Moana for sale. This makes Kara very sad since it was one of the few memories she had of her mother. Kara's mother was a marine biologist that disappeared during research.
Kara is bullied by Jack in school whose father Dougie blamed the death of their son on her mother due to the dredging ban present due to her. Since the ban license was coming to an end they planned on dredging again. Kara meets a boy called Felix but doesn't like him immediately. Felix's father was thinking of buying Moana but Kara wanted to keep to herself. After seeing Felix sail Moana easily which also lessened his movability due to cerebral palsy.
Kara finds a calf white dolphin stuck in one of the nets and tries to save it with the help of many people. She finds a dolphin memory stick that required a password. Felix votes on the dredging ban and helps Kara find the password for the memory stick which showed the problems of sea dredging. Seeing this many go against Dougie in removing the ban. Later they release the calf to its mother
Jake with his friend heads to sail but gets caught in a storm. Kara and Felix help them out making Dougie happy about not losing his other son. He decides to agree to the ban due to this help in dolphin-friendly fishing.
