Answer:

The poem "The Ballad of Rum" has been written by Peter R Wolveridge and is about a dog called Rum that came to the poet's property for staying. Although initially, people did not take it seriously because it used to only bark at cats and frogs and played gently with people.

However, one day at night, when the masters were sleeping a burglar tried to sneak in but after seeing Rum, the burglar was terrified and tried to leave the place in haste and left its wallet behind while fleeing.

Next day, when Rum's owners found the wallet, they understood what had happened at night and informed the police who caught the burglar. Rum became quite famous due to this and the owner's also started to love it more.
