A Strange Transformation is an extract from Franz Kafka's novel, The Metamorphosis (published in 1915). It was not really popular at that time and had a very low feedback. The book remains as one of the classics of world literature because it is thought to be the most influential work by Franz Kafka. It tells the story of a travelling salesman, Gregor Samsa who wakes up to find himself transformed into a giant beetle. Everyone who saw him was disgusted by his sickening appearance and started shutting him down. Even his family refuses to feed him. He was deeply hurt by this and started blaming himself for what had happened. In the end, Gregor loses his will to live and dies of starvation and never-ending heartache.
