R.K. Narayan in his story “A hero”, narrates how swami overcomes his fear with his courage and bravely in one single night.

Explanation:

Swami was not convinced with his father when he said courageousness is vital than our ego. So, his father challenged him to point out his spirit by sleeping alone within his father’s study room that night. Meanwhile, he heard a rustling noise in the room. He saw dark figure which he believed it to be devil. Still, he courageously dugged his teeth into its leg and later found him to be a stealer. His loud cry brought others there in to the room.

Finally, the thief was caught. He was praised by everyone for his bravery and courageousness. He was called hero by everyone. This incident made swami realize what his father said about courageousness. That night alone made swami even more courageous and brave.
