In the first four lines of the poem, the poet vividly describes the children's world, saying that it is a world too small for the adults to stoop and enter even on hands and knees. The following line states that the adult subterfuge. So far, the poet has placed the adults in a bad light. The word "stoop" can be used as a double meaning.
