The Japanese peace pagoda
Visiting Darjeeling was a very enthralling trip among which one of the major attraction was the Japanese Peace Pagoda on the slopes of Jalpahar Hills. It showcases the four avatars of Buddha including the Maitreya Buddha. Opening up to all castes and creeds, it was made to spread peace and prosperity in the world. It was made under the supervision of the devout Japanese monk called Nichidatsu Fuji. It was built from 1972 to 1992.
The Pagoda held Buddhist Monks who were deeply involved in prayers. Going there was one of the peaceful encounters in my life.
People selflessly praying and chanting prayers with beating drums.. There was no bar of religion, no classification on religion, prayer was allowed to everyone. Enchanting was the experience.
