Answer:
- In the absence of leaves, enlarged stems carry out photosynthesis. These adaptations allow cactus species to grow in hot and dry places.
- Quite tall grasses can be found in North American tallgrass prairie, South American grasslands, and African savanna. Woody plants, shrubs or trees may occur on some grasslands – forming savannas, scrubby grassland or semi-wooded grassland, such as the African savannas or the Iberian deheza.
- Dodder, (genus Cuscuta), genus of about 145 species of leafless, twining, parasitic plants in the morning glory family (Convolvulaceae).
- Most dicots have a taproot system, while most monocots have a fibrous root system. 2. Some plant taproots have specialized into a storage organ such as carrots and sugar beets to store food like carbohydrate, some taproots have modified into reaching deep water in the ground.
- In most biological nomenclature, a scale (Greek λεπίς lepis, Latin squama) is a small rigid plate that grows out of an animal's skin to provide protection. In lepidopteran (butterfly and moth) species, scales are plates on the surface of the insect wing, and provide coloration. Scales are quite common and have evolved multiple times through convergent evolution, with varying structure and function.
