The poem alludes to the many ways the wind acts; from gentle breeze, to its most fearsome tempestuous, destructive manner. It concludes with its most passive role “quite as quite”
Rhyming couplets. key/tree. towers/flowers etc. The poem is quite literal, each line being self explanatory.
The first line may seem to imply a paradox, but not so. The entry is through a doorway, not a closed door (no key required).
Overall, it is a poem about the many moods of wind, a poem told using personification. That is, using the many moods of a human and the first person “I” to personalize the wind, (the Wind is not an “I”, the actual wind is impersonal, but the poet uses personification ‘as if’ the wind could speak and tell its tale. Using personification the poet can express the many moods of the wind as if it were human being speaking of its many moods/activities. Able to strip leaves from trees/to drive/to steal through/to carry/to be angry/ to be spent (exhausted).
