The poet says that the crow, the dust of snow and the hemlock tree have given a change of mood to his heart. Ironically, the poet feels good when the dust of snow (which is quite light-weight) falls on him and he feels that some part of the day which was wasted was saved. He is feeling good now.

Dust and Snow is written by Robert Frost .
He tries to convey that sometimes a negative thing can bring a positive experience with the help of following incident . He says that once in a harsh winter day , a crow shakes down on him the dust of snow from a hemlock tree . This incident brings a shift of change in his mood which was hopeless becomes hopeful .
The two words "Hemlock" and the "crow" is used as symbolism of negativity. The first two line of the poem starts with the literary device called enjambment . There are many more figures of speech like this in this poem .
It shows that how a small event in life can bring down a great change in our life.
