✒At night, when that part of Earth is facing away from the Sun, space looks black because there is no nearby bright source of light, like the Sun, to be scattered. If you were on the Moon, which has no atmosphere, the sky would be black both night and day.

Answer:

When the earth faces towards the sun, it is the morning and hence it is day. When the earth does not faces towards the sun it is dark and hence is night. As sun’s light is so bright and we are close to it (not much) , so when it is facing towards we see everything bright otherwise everything is dark in space( except stars)
