Sun's Role in Causing Changes in Weather
You must have noticed that some days are hot, some are cold, while
some are cloudy or rainy. This is due to weather changes. Weather
is the condition of the atmosphere at a particular time, in terms of
temperature, wind, moisture and atmospheric pressure.
The Sun causes all these weather changes. The Sun affects the
movement of air. It also changes the form of water making the day
cloudy, rainy or sunny. We know that rotation of the Earth causes day
and night and revolution of the Earth around the Sun causes seasons.
Direct and slanting sunlight
When the Sun is overhead at noon, sunlight falls directly on the Earth
and we feel hot. In the morning and evening, the Sun's rays are slanting,
so one does not feel so hot.
