For 1 rupee he bought 20/12 chocolates.

Given:

Sundar gains 40% by selling 20 chocolates for RS 1

To Find:

how many did he buy for RS 1

Solution:

If Sundar sells 20 chocolates for 1 rupee then he will get 20 rupees

Profit percentage = 40%

It means that 40% of 20 = profit

profit = 0.4 * 20 = 8 rupees

If the profit is 8 rupees then the actual price at which he bought those chocolates is 20 - 8 = 12 rupees

Sundar bought 20 chocolates for 12 rupees

For 1 rupee he bought 20/12 chocolates

He bought 1.66 chocolates for Rs 1.

GIVEN:- Sundar gains 40% by selling 20 chocolates for Rs 1

TO FIND:- how many did he buy for RS 1

SOLUTION:-

According to the question,

He sold 20 chocolate for Rs 1 each

Thus, the Selling Price = Rs 20

He got 40% profit from Rs 20 chocolates

Profit = 40℅ of 20

 =  \frac{40}{100}  \times 20 \\  =  \frac{800}{100}  \\  = 8

Profit = 8

S.P = 20

Cost price = S.P - Profit = 20 - 8 = 12

The number of chocolates he bought for Rs 1 = S.P/C.P = 20/12 = 1.66

Hence, he bought 1.66 chocolates for Rs 1.
