Sunflower is an example for composite family
basal.
In all types of plants that produce flowers, placentation is the process of ovules attachment within the ovary.
The ovules within an ovary, that later become the seeds of a fruit, are held by the funiculi.
It is similar to an umbilical cord in plants.
In the ovary, the part where the funiculus is connected is called the placenta.
In plant study, the term 'placentation' means the setting up of the ovules within an ovary. there are different types of placentation that include the following.
(1) Basal placentation: The type of placenta can be expected in mono and multi carpellary and syncarpous ovary.
Generally, there is a single ovule that is connected at the bottom.
Eg: Sunflower, Helianthus, tagetus, etc.
(2) Parietal placentation
(3) Free central placentation
(4) Axile placentation, and
(5) Marginal placentation.
