Let the number of days taken by Anil to complete the work be x and that by sunil be x+5.
Let the units of work be y.
One day work of anil = y/x
One day work of sunil = y/x+5
Anil did the work for 4 days and then left and later sunil completed the work left in 5 days.
y = 4 × y/x + 5 × y/(x+5)
=> 1 = 4/x + 5/(x+5)
=> x² + 5x = 4x +20 + 5x
=> x² -4x -20 = 0
=> x= (4+√96)/2
=> x = 7
x +5 = 12
