he turned to his right and walked 6 Kms.
Finally he turned to his left and walked 14
kms. How far is he from the starting point
and in which direction?

according to the fig ( given in attachment )

let the starting point be “ A ”

so from point A he goes 6 km to east now let be the point B ......

NOW FROM POINT B 10 KM RIGHT ( MEANS SOUTH ) .....BE POINT C

NOW FROM POINT C WEST ( RIGHT ) 6KM TO BE POINT D”

AND THEN FROM POINT D TO 14 KM TO SOUTH BE POINT E

NOW AB = CD = 6km

THUS AD = BC = 10 KM

NOW

AE IS THE TOTAL DISTANCE...

AE = AD + DE

AE = 14 + 10

AE = 24 KM ( SOUTH )
