Sunita got 30 marks in total for a test in Maths and English. Had she got 2 marks more in Maths and 2 marks less in English, the product of her new marks would be 216. Find the original marks in Maths and English?

Answer:

Let us assume Sunita got x marks in Maths

Since total marks in English and maths is 30

therefore marks in English = (30-x)

Then according to ques

(x+2)(28-x)=216

Solving the equation we will get value of x

x= 10 or 16

correspondingly

30-x=20 or 14

Answer:

Let the marks in Math be x and

in English (30−x).

New marks in Math =2+x

New marks in English =28−x

(2+x)(28−x)=216

56−2x+28x−x² =216

x −26x+266=0

x −12x−14x+266=0

x(x−12)−14(x−12)=0

(x−12)(x−14)=0

x=12,14

If her marks in Math is 12, then in English she got 14

or

If math mark is 14, then she got

16 in English.

hope it helps you
