  • 1) The number of Swati have = X + 10

  • 2) The sum of marbles of Sunita and Swati = 2X + 10

  • 3) The number of marbles Ravi have = 2X + 14

  • 4) The difference of marbles of Ravi and Sunita = X + 14

  • 5) The difference of marbles of Ravi and Swati = X + 4

Given :

  • Sunita has some marbles.

  • Swati has 10 more marbles than Sunita.

  • Ravi says that he has 4 more marbles than the number of marbles Sunita and Swati have.

  • Let the number of marbles Sunita have = X

To find :

  • 1) The number of Swati have

  • 2) The sum of marbles of Sunita and Swati

  • 3) The number of marbles Ravi have

  • 4) The difference of marbles of Ravi and Sunita

  • 5) The difference of marbles of Ravi and Swati

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Write down number of marbles of Sunita have

The number of marbles Sunita have = X

Step 2 of 2 :

Answer the given questions

1) Swati has 10 more marbles than Sunita

The number of marbles Sunita have = X

∴ The number of Swati have = X + 10

2) The number of marbles Sunita have = X

The number of Swati have = X + 10

∴ The sum of marbles of Sunita and Swati

= X + (X + 10)

= 2X + 10

3) Ravi says that he has 4 more marbles than the number of marbles Sunita and Swati have

The sum of marbles of Sunita and Swati = 2X + 10

The number of marbles Ravi have

= 2X + 10 + 4

= 2X + 14

4) The number of marbles Sunita have = X

The number of marbles Ravi have = 2X + 14

∴ The difference of marbles of Ravi and Sunita

= (2X + 14) - X

= X + 14

5) The number of marbles Ravi have = 2X + 14

The number of Swati have = X + 10

The difference of marbles of Ravi and Swati

= (2X + 14) - (X + 10)

= 2X + 14 - X - 10

= X + 4
