Let the age of Ashima be x years

$\therefore$ The age of Sunita will be 2x years

According to the question,

4(x – 6) = 2x + 4

4x – 24 = 2x + 4

4x – 2x = 4 + 24

2x = 28

x = $\frac {\cancel{28}\: \: 14}{\cancel2}$

x = 14

$\therefore$ Age of Ashima = 14 years

Age of Sunita = 2 × 14 = 28 years

So,

Two years ago Ashima's age = (14 – 2) = 12 years

Two years ago Sunita's age = (28 – 2) = 26 years
