500

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Sunita sold a article for 528 after discount of 12%.

If she sold without discount she will get 20 % profit on cost price.

To find:

Cost price of article

How to solve ?

1. We have to find market price(M.P) because it's directly related to our cost price(c.p).

2. As selling price and discount is given. If we inverse the process we will get the m.p .

3. As you know m.p follow the question and you will get the answer.

Solution:

let, the m.p be 100x.

So the sell price = 100x - 12% = 88x

According to question,

88x = 528

x = 528/88

100x = 100*6

100x = 600

Hence, The m.p is 600.

Again,

let, c.p be 100m .

According to question,

100m + 20% = 600

120m = 600

m = 5

100m = 500

Therefore, The required c.p is 500.

\sf\large\underline{Let:}

  • \rm{The\: cost\: price\:of\: article=Rs.x}

\sf\large\underline{To\: Find:}

  • \rm{The\: cost\: price\:of\:the\:article=?}

\sf\large\underline{Solution:}

  • Given here,Sunita sold her articles for ₹528 each after allowing 12% discount on marked price. Had she not allowed any discount, she would have profit of 20% on the cost price]

\rm{\implies Formula\: used}

\rm{\implies SP=\dfrac{100-L\%}{100}\times\:CP}

\rm{\implies 528=\dfrac{100-12}{100}\times\:x}

\rm{\implies 528=\dfrac{88x}{100}}

\rm{\implies 88x=52800}

\rm{\implies x=Rs.600}

  • Now, calculate the cost price of the article after gaining a profit of 20%]

\rm{\implies New\:_{cost\: price}=\dfrac{100}{100+G\%}\times\:CP}

\rm{\implies New\:_{cost\: price}=\dfrac{100}{100+20}\times\:600}

\rm{\implies New\:_{cost\: price}=\dfrac{100}{120}\times\:600}

\rm{\implies New\:_{cost\: price}=100\times\:5}

\rm{\implies New\:_{cost\:price}=Rs.500}

\sf\large{Hence,}

\bf{\implies The\:cost\: price\:of\:the\: article=Rs.500}
